Field Termination
Field Termination RF connectors are used in applications where installers or contractors need a reliable RF connector termination quickly without the need for solder equipment or special tools.
The assembly is easily completed when standard tools are not available.
Field Termination RF connectors have a captivated center contact in the main connector and a wire crimp ferrule. The installer will strip the cable to the dissensions specified, then insert the RF cable into the connector automatically terminating the center contact of the RF cable to the center pin of an RF connector. They will then use a standard crimp tool to crimp the outside ferrule of the RF connector completing the assembly.
Typical uses are cellular applications where an installer has to retrofit an existing cable in a cabinet. These connectors are widely used by the cellular providers Cingular, Verizon, and AT&T to upgrade the E911 systems or to change antenna connection types. The electrical characteristics of these connectors parallel the standard versions that are soldered. The crimping of the ferrule insures long life without the worry of pulling off, or twisting off.
